Chloroplast lipids: from synthesis to function - a joint course with CUSO
10-11 November
Course in collaboration with the CUSO Doctoral Program in Molecular Plant Sciences
Organisers: Felix Kessler and Emilie Demarsy (University of Neuchâtel), Laurent Mène-Saffrané (University of Fribourg)
Objectives
Beyond their function in energy supply, the plant organelles chloroplasts are also the major site of diverse metabolic pathways. A large variety and quantity of lipids are synthesized in this organelle and serve different cell functions ranging from membrane biogenesis, protection against oxidative stress to signaling for example in response to wounding and insect attack. Key steps of lipid metabolism take place in sub-plastidial compartments (envelopes, thylakoids, plastoglobules) and are tightly regulated depending on developmental stage and environmental factors.
Speaker
- Claire Bréhélin , Université Bordeaux Segalen, France
- Alan Bridge , SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics, Lausanne, Switzerland
