Cognitive science covers a wide range of scientific subjects—such as neuroscience, artificial intelligence, philosophy, linguistics, ethnology, psychology and anthropology. Enriched by this interdisciplinarity, it studies the nature and processing of the human mind applying a naturalistic approach.
The second research group concentrates on semantics and Cognitive Pragmatics Theory, which allows analysis of specific linguistic facts (expressions of time and modality, thought and reported discourse, irony etc.) but also unveils discursive facts, e.g. the link between discursive persuasion mechanisms and cognitive architecture.
The Cognitive Science Center was launched and was co-founded in January 2011 by Professors Fabrice Clément and Louis de Saussure, its current directors. The Center benefits from a large network of interdisciplinary collaborations, within the University of Neuchâtel, as well as in Switzerland and abroad.
