The CDM is dedicated to research in the field of migration law, integrating legal and social science perspectives. Research topics include national aliens law, nationality law, asylum law, the law on the free movement of persons Switzerland-EU/EFTA, international refugee law, and European and international migration law.

Together with their collaborators, the professors cover the following topics: 

• Alberto Achermann (UNIBE): national and international migration law (asylum and aliens law), nationality law.
• Christin Achermann (UNINE-FLSH): implementation of national migration law, particularly in the fields of security, integration and exclusion policies and practices.
• Cesla Amarelle (UNINE): national and international migration law, agreements on the free movement of persons, human rights.
• Sarah Progin-Theuerkauf (UNIFR): European migration law, European citizenship, free movement of persons, European and international asylum law, Schengen and Dublin, border control, CH-EU bilateral agreements, immigration of highly qualified people, migration governance and social law, human rights.
• Nesa Zimmermann (UNINE): Swiss and comparative constitutional law, human rights, Council of Europe, feminist approaches to law.
