Milad Zarin is full professor of Economics at the University of Neuchâtel and guest professor at the University of Geneva. After studying diplomacy at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, he obtained a licence in economics (major in quantitative methods) and a doctorate in economic and social sciences summa cum laude, both from the University of Geneva. He is the recipient of the International Latsis Foundation prize. He has taught in leading universities both in Switzerland (Universities of Geneva, Lausanne and Fribourg as well as the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne) and abroad (Tohoku University, Japan). In Neuchâtel he currently teaches several bachelor and master courses. Besides, he is the founder/director of the Executive programme (Certificate of Advanced Studies) in public economics and finance. He has been in charge of several research projects financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation and other funding institutions. He has published extensively on a wide range of policy-related issues and provided expertise in the capacity of advisor to the OECD and Swiss government agencies (Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation). He is a member of numerous advisory bodies, in particular the scientific board of Swiss Foundation for Research in Social Sciences and the group of experts “Economic Statistics” of the Swiss Federal Statistical Office.
